S-038 Naqadeh, Iran

 1 Eme/ eme/ emin bo xo-m ḥ/ kesêk im ke le/ kesêkî waqiʕgera m; rrastîyekanî jiyan debînim, nek biłêm be taybet tsunke Kurd im, ew şitaney ke têyda nîye pêwe-y binêm, ya pêwe-y hełsengênim; şitêkî wa-m nîye.
I, myself, am a person, a realistic person; I see the facts of life, not to say especially because I am Kurdish I have to add something that isn’t there, to it, or value it with them; I don’t have such a thing.
 2 Ew şitaney ke rrastî ye, ḥerçen ke durûz nîye, ẋełet-îş e, bełam piyaw debê rrastîyekan biłê, îdî.
Those things that are facts, although they aren’t right, they are wrong, a man has to speak the truth, though.
 3 Zor be daxewe, ême le/ le Kurdustanî xo-man da, eh/ bo vêne, her xo-m, her xo-m wekû hawrrêkanî dîke-m her [wergir]; ême ew serdeme nebûwe ke bitwanîn kitsêk bibînîn, qise-y legeł bikeyn, bizanîn çi bûwe.
Very unfortunately, in our own Kurdistan we er! for instance myself, I used myself as an example for my friends; we couldn’t see a girl, couldn’t talk to her and know how she was.
 4 Hîç, ew karey ke êsta heye, ew demey nebûwe.
Sure, what is accessible now, then was not.
 5 ême deyankut kese ke, kurre ke geyştote, bote be piyaw, debê jin-î bo bênin.
For us, they would say the person, the boy, who has reached/ become a man, you should get him a wife.
 6 bełê le nêw x/ xizm-u kesûkar-û cîran da kesêk-yan pê baş e, deyanhêna.
Yes, when they favoured a person among the relatives and the neighbours, they would get her.
 7 deyanhêna w mare-yan dekird û mare/ w
They would get her, marry her, and the perform the marriage act
 8 le pêş da detsûne bo xuwazbênî, qise-yan legeł dekird u fiłan kes îş, kar-î çî ye w şuẋł-î çî ye w çî-î xênduwe w çî-y heye w wane w,
First, they would go and ask for her hand, they would talk to her; (and tell her) what the job or profession was of that person, what is his occupation, what did he study, what did he have, and such things.
 9 ewe ege dayk-u bab-î rrazî ban, kitse-ş rrazî debû.
If her mother and father agreed, she would agree too.
 10 Kitse-ş ke bełê w rrazî debû, ewe d/ de/ rroj nîşane-kirdin bû, be duway ew-îşda-j mare-kirdin bû, [le pêş], duway ewî-ş xenebenda bû, ke duway wî-şda debuwe mare-kirdin û duwaye-ş ke [costin] w wane.
And when the girl agreed, then there was one day for the engagement, and after that was the binding of marriage, [before], after that there was henna which was followed by the marriage act and then the taking of the bride and such things.
 11 serdemî me da şayî-w wane zor gewretir û xoştir bû; bes/ serdemî me sê şew û rroj hełperrçê bû.
During our time, weddings and such things were bigger and more impressive; during our time, three days and nights were just dancing.
 12 duwaye xenebendaneke her wetir.
Then, the henna was more impressive.
 13 Be duway wî da bo costinewe-w be duway wî da sê rrojane.
This was followed by the wedding, then the three-day celebration.
 14 yeʕnî sê dane rroj le ser heł-perrîn û şit bû, bełam êsta ke kurt kirawetewe, bote be rrojêk.
That is to say, dancing and such things used to be for three days, but now it is shortened; it became one day.
 15 ca ewe ye ke e/ ewane her hebû. Êsta-ş ke gorrawe.
So, that/ those things already existed, but are changed now.
 16 Êsta-ş ke her le ḥemû şitêk da de rrojêk da buwe w êsta-ş hêndêk baştir buwe le çaw caran.
Now everything is done in a day, and nowadays some things have become better than before.
 17 xełkeke yektir denasê.
The people get to know each other.
 18 kitseke deynasê; etwanê qiseyan bika, ca ba/ be wayber bê, be têlîfûn bê, be ês êym ês bê.
The girl gets to know him; she can speak (to him), whether by pager, phone, or text message.
 19 şarezay-yan le jiyanî yektir heye kem ta kurtêk.
They are more or less familiar with each others’ life.
 20 wa ne ke biłê eh/ wek êmanê, kesêk bênê tsaw biqutsênîn û bo-man bênê w duwaye-ş bizanîn ke le buwarî hîç şitê-w yektir nagirêtewe, tûşî zor şitî diłtezên û ewber ewber bîn.
It is not like to say er! unlike us who married somebody blindly, and they get her for us, then we realise that we will not fit well together in any way, and so face many heart-wrenching issues.
 21 ew mareyî w şitî wa çon e, yeʕnî bo/ çona-w çon dest pê dekrê bo merrasîmî îzdiwac û şayî-w şitî wa, rresm-u rrisûmeke-y çon e?
How is the marriage and those things, that is how do they start the process of the marriage ceremony, the wedding and those things, what is the process?
 22 weçî ke bas-im kird ke ewey y/ yektir debînin, deçête bo xuwazbênî, le xuwazbênîyeke-y da deybirrnewe ke ew çendî le ser tsendî mare bikrê.
As I said they see each other, he goes to ask for her hand, where they will then decide on how much (money) they will marry her (for).
 23 eh/ qisekan deken, duway qise-kirdineke dekewêtewe bo mare-kirdin.
Er! they negotiate, and after the negotiation, they proceed to the marriage act.
 24 bo mare-kirdineke mela dête bo małê-w lewê-ş ma/ kitêb dênin u be islah tsen aye-w şit dexênin w [neta] û ewane-w; eh/ mare-y deken û deynûsin le sened-a ke […] le ser ewende misqałe zêrr û ewende pare-w wane mare kirawe.
For the marriage act a mullah comes to the home, they bring a book, recite some ayahs/verses, […] and such things, er! they marry her, and write it down in a contract, that this person has been married against this number of mithqaals of gold, this amount of money, and such things.
 25 înca îdî-ş be duway wî duway mare-kirdin debête be costinewe, costinewe ço, hełperrçê ba bê, duwa debête be sê rrojane.
Then after the marriage, they will take her, once taking her is completed, then comes dancing, then comes the three-day celebration.
 26 hî ew serdemî me bû, bełam êsta-ş/ -bibexşe/
During that time, it was like that, but now/ -Sorry!    
 27 na xayîş dekem. le/ lew c/ be laḥez cûgrafya-w f/ ew Turkîye-w êraq û ewane çona-w çon e; menteqeke-y bîyabanî ye, çöstanî ye?
It is OK. From/ from a geographic and f/ perspective, how is Turkey, Iraq, and so on; is the area desert or it is mountainous?
 28 Kurdustanî Rrojhełat dewêtê biłêyn
East Kurdistan, we have to say
 29 kullen [het] eh/ çuwar partsekey esłen.

 31 çon e [de laḥe] cuẋrrafyayiyewe?
How is it from the geographic [point of view]?
 32 le Başûrî Kurdustan nawçeyek-man heye be nêwî Germên eh/ le le jêrewey Suleymanî-w bo ew ber tê bo lay Kerkurê ewane ḥemû Germên-in, ḥeta degatewe deştayî Hewlêrê.
In South Kurdistan, we have an area called Garmyan er! from south of Sulaimany to the other side to Kirkuk and those areas are all Garmyan until it reaches the plain of Hawler (Erbil).
 33 ewe nawçeyek e heta kû şêwekanî eh/ rrişte çêwî im/
This is an area till the mountains er! the mountain chain hm/
 34 Zagros?           
Zagros?            
 35 Na, le/ le/ le Başûrî Kurdustan, rrişte çêwêkî biçûk-î lê ye, heta kû ewê sinûrî Kurdustan e, Ḥemrîn.
No, there is a small mountain chain in South Kurdistan, which is Kurdistan territory till that point, Hamrin.
 36 le Ḥemrîn rra bo berey, bo berî serewey Başûrî Kurdusan da ewe ḥemû wanêk e, deştayî deştayî Germên e heta degato nizîkî, bo lay Kurdustan dê, bo lay Zaxoy dê, bo lay Ḥełepçey dê, bo lay/ bo lay sertir dê w dekewête/ wurde wurde berew çêwekan dest pê deka bo lay Qeładizê-w wane ke dewête ser zindzîre çiyay çiyakanî Hełgurd û wane ḥetan Hełgurdî.
From Hamrin to the side, the north of South Kurdistan they are all like/ the plain of Garmyan till it reaches, goes to Kurdistan to Zakho, to Halabja, to further north towards the mountain towards Qaladiza and such places that are located on the mountain chain, the Halgurd Mountain chains and so on, until (it reaches) Halgurd.
 37 Degerrêtewe bo lay Kurdustanî, başûrî, Kurdustanî eh/ Bakûr-îş ke ewe ḥemû her çêw û çostan e.
It turns towards Kurdistan, south, the North of Kurdistan is also all mountainous.
 38 Ḥemû her eh/ nawçeyekî sard e, yenî nawçeyekî le babî cuẋrraf/ abûheway, ba biłêyn, abûhewayekî berrî-y heye.
It’s er! a cold area, that is, weather wise, it is an area that has harsh weather.
 39 Zistanan zor zor sard e; hawînan-îş zor zor germ e.
It is very, very cold in the winter; it is very, very hot during the summer.
 40 Bełam bo Kurdustanî Başûr na, ew-îş eme twanîn biłêyn zortir germ e heta kû sard bê.
But not in South Kurdistan, which is more hot than cold.
 41 Bełam bo nawçey Rrojhełat da abûhewayekî tuwawî muḥtedîl-î heye.
The East area has very mild weather.
 42 Dar û bar, ke bo xot dezanî ke eh/ berêk-î her cengeł e bo lay ser ser sinûreke, [bo goretir-îş] ke dekewêtewe ser lay Germênê, bo lay x/ Xorremabad û, tsû zanim, Îlam û wane-w wurde wurde berew Serpul Zehaw û ewane berew Germênê detsê.
Sometimes, as you know yourself that er! one of its sides is a forest up to the border, and […] which is located towards Garmyan (lowland and warm areas), towards Khorramabad, Ilam and those areas, it gradually extends towards Sarpol-e Zahab and up to Garmyan.
 43 Ewe le buwarî abûhewa-w cuẋrrafyayewe.
That is about its climate and geography.
 44 Bełam dzêgayekî eh/ b/ be daxewe çunke partse kirawe le nêwan çuwar dewłetan da, zor xełkeke şarezayî-yan le yektir nîye; zor têkeławî-yan le yektir nîye.
But, unfortunately, as it is a land divided across four states, the people are not very familiar with each other; they don’t interact much.  
 45 Way lê hatûwe, ew sinûre xełkekan lêk dabibrrê.
The border has divided the people.
 46 Ca ewe ye ke le zor şitan […], bełam ḥer be xoşîyewe, tewawî Kurdustan biłêy le bo/ babet abûhewaewe, le babet eṣlen çêw û çostanewe dzêgayekî zor xoş e; zor baştir e.
So, it is, in many things […], yet fortunately for the weather and mountains the whole of Kurdistan is very attractive; it is much better.
 47 Meselen, bo wêne, Hewlêr ke şarêkî Germên-îş e le Kurdustan da, pareke bû be yekêk le şarekanî tûrîstî le tewawî dewłetekanî ʕerrebî da.
For instance, for example, Erbil which is a hot city in Kurdistan, last year became one of the most touristic cities of the whole Arab countries.
 48 Hewlêr bû be şarî tûrîstî, yanî paytextî tûrîstî, paytextî cuwanî tewawî dewłetekanî ʕerrebî da.
Erbil became a touristic city, or the tourist capital, the capital of beauty of the entire Arab countries.
 49 Ewe bo xoy cêy şanazî ye.
This in itself is a source of pride.
 50 Bełam Kurdusan w/ wiłat/ cêgayekî xoş e; cêgayekî cuwan e.
But Kurdistan is an attractive country, place; it is a beautiful place.
