 1 Qala bûya xe dikim.
I’ll talk about my wedding.
2 K’ete zivistanî, berf başlemîş kir dibarî.
The winter started, the snow started to fall.
3 Dibarî, bavê mi ṙokî ç’û der hat “nîvanî me tê.”
It was snowing and one day my father went out, came back and said “we will have guests.”
4 Na, den nake ki nîvan k’îye.
No, he did not say who the guests are.
5 Tabî e-jî qicik ime, nizanim ki, de w sê salî nine hatta de w du salî nine de w sisê-jî nine.
Of course, I was small, I did not know, I was thirteen, actually I was twelve, not even thirteen.
 6 “Nîvanî me tê.”
“We will have guests.”
7 Wê ṙoyê barîya gerî ṙoya din car tim barîya, dengê kûtîyan ki hat bavê mi derk’et.
That day it was snowing, and the next day it was still snowing, when there was the sound of dogs. my father went out.
8 Derk’et, şev “va hat, vay nîvanî me hat.”
He went out, at night (and said) “they’ve arrived, our guests have arrived.”
9 Neyse nîvan du t’ene sê t’ene mêr ine.
Well, the guests were two or three men.
10 Hatin k’etin hundur, ez derk’etim ç’ûm, ç’ûme mala cîranan dilîstinê yanî, nizanim ki bûç’î ne.
They came in, I went out, I went to the neighbours’ house to play, that is, I did not know that they were the ones who would ask for a girl’s hand.
 11 Nizanim bûç’î ne, t’erim / ç’ûm dilîzinê.
I did not know they were the ones who would ask for a girl’s hand, I went to play.
12 Hatinê, ew nîvanî me, em li Çêrmişaginê, mala me vazîyetsiz e dîye nîvan ç’ûne mala / oda aẋê rûniştine.
Those guests of ours, because in Çêrmişagin our house was in a bad condition, the guests went to the Agha’s room and sat there.
13 Oda aẋê rûniştine, me nan man ç’i xar ç’i kirse, zav zêç heye, sürik zav zêç hene, sê ç’ar t’ene birayê di mi ji mi qiciktir hene, em t’ev da k’etinê cî ṙak’etinê.
They sat in the Agha’s room, we ate food and so on, there were children, there was a group of children. I had three or four younger brothers, and we all went to bed together and slept.
14 Sive da ṙabûm ser xe, qîzikik cîranan hat go ki, “tu dane, tu nîşan kirine.”
In the morning when I got up, one of of the neighbours’ daughters came and said “they gave you away for marriage, you are engaged.”
15 Halla halla, yeʕnî qîzik deng dike, ez hayret dikim, ne min lawik dîye, ne lawik min dizanî, e zatî bi xe zaṙî me.
The girl spoke and I was surprised, I had not seen the boy, nor did the boy know me; in any case I was still a child.
16 “Tu nîşan kirine.” Neyse lê xistin hatin ev merana nankî xe xarin, berf-jî dibarî vana lê xistin ç’ûn, heftek bûyê ṙa biṙîn.
“You are now engaged.” Well, these men came and ate a meal, and it was snowing, then they left and they arranged the wedding to be in one week’s time.
17 Heftek biṙîn bi bûya min dibî.
One week after that it would be my wedding.
18 Wana lê xistin ç’ûn, sê ṙo ç’ar ṙo t’amam bû, yanî ç’î ye ki qe doẋû da k’inc li k’u ye k’ol li k’u ye?
Those men left, three or four days later, well, in the east where do you find the dress and where do you find the jewellery?
19 P’arç’ek dudu da li k’u gîyandin ç’i kirinse, heftêkî da. Du t’ene-jî apê di min, apê öz ninese, pismam ine.
One or two pieces of fabric, whatever they brought, whatever they did, in one week. And two uncles of mine, not real uncles but cousins.
20 Ew li Ç’urfan hatine, em Ç’êrmişagêne ya, hatin wü derê.
They came from Çurfan; we were in Çêrmîşagên, they went there.
21 Hatin wü derê, bûya xe / bûy kirin, bûy hat / berbû hatin, pêrî çêkirine, qwe ez kirime paş pêrî.
They went there, they performed the wedding, the bridesmaids (berbû) came and made a pêrî (a curtain to cover the bride), and they put me behind the pêrî.
22 Neyse berbû hatin, êk xasîya min e, êk-jî amojina min e.
And the bridesmaids came; one was my mother-in-law, and one was my uncle’s wife.
23 Ez ki dîmse qe xe va man, “ulaan,” xasîya mi go, “qîzik ç’i qa qicik e, va ç’ita îşê were?”
When they saw me, they were still. “Oh”, my mother-in-law said, “the girl is so small, how will she do the chores?”
24 Neyse bûy mûy kirin, bûy ṙa/ bûy ç’i ye/ ç’ûm, ez birim Qilîcan.
Well, they performed the wedding and so I went/ they took me to Qilican.
25 Ṙind qe bîr nakim, şeva yîlbaşî, şeva yîlbaşî, bûya mi ç’û li wê derê peya bû.
I will never forget it, it was New Year’s eve, New Year’s eve, my wedding procession started and stopped there.
26 Zaṙî me, t’abî qicik im, afêdersin damat mamat kesan nas nakim.
I was a child, so of course I was small, I’m sorry, I did not know the groom or anyone.
27 Zatî damat olan-jî hat, hat ki ez dîmse ew-jî ç’ûye üzmüş büye.
Then the groom came, and as soon as he saw me apparently he became sad.
28 Ew-jî ç’ûye üzmüş büye, gotîye, “ez lê dixinim t’erim ṙê.”
He became sad, and said, “I’ll be on my way”.
29 Va lê xist ç’û ṙê.
Then he left and went away.
30 Ç’û ṙê, sê ç’ar salan qe li ṙê nat.
He went away, and for three or four years he didn’t come back.
31 Sê ç’ar salan li ṙê nat, ṙametî xasîya mi-jî, ẋezûrê min-jî, yanî p’ir ṙind bûn, ya digo,“va gune ye, va zaṙî ye, de lê mekin ç’i îş kiriye, çi nekiriyese.”
For three or four years he didn’t come back, and both my now deceased mother-in-law and my father-in-law, they said, “Poor girl, she is a child, do not blame her for whatever work she does or does not do.”
32 Pismamê xe li gund t’eṙe, yanî t’eṙe cem Memo qurbetê, li wê derê pirs dike, gotîye “ew qîzika ç’itan bû ç’itan?”
His cousin left the village, that is, he went away from home, near Memo, and there he asks, he asked, “How has this girl turned out, how?”
33 Vala gotîye “qîzik ṙind e, xe ṙa dîya te bavê te, yanî her keş-ra anneşmîş dibî, ṙind e.”
Well, he said, “The girl is good, she gets along with your mother, with your father, that is, with everyone.”
34 Caya mi heye, t’îyê mi heye, t’îyê azeb heye, mal giran e.
My brother-in-law’s wife was there, my husband’s brother, my husband’s single brother, and many cattle.
35 Yê ez qet ewayê nizanim, mal dütinê nizanim, nê bîlîm qe îşkî nizanim.
Me, I did not know anything at all, I did not know how to milk the cattle, what can I say, I did not know any chores.
36 Xe ṙa li wê derê îşte wan ṙa yük, ew ç’ûn li k’u pê wan terim, ew li k’u hatin pê wan têm.
Just like that there was a load on them, wherever they went I went behind them, wherever they came from, I came behind them.
