Research Projects

Romaninet

This project was launched in January 2010. It was lead by the Instituto de EnseƱanza Secundaria Ribeira do Louro in Spain and the Romani Project was one of seven European partners. The main aim of the project was the production on an internet-based Romani language learning course. The content of the course is based on the European Common Framework of Reference for Languages. It is aimed at adults and children who want to use Romani at a basic level.

The course uses the Gurbet-Vlax Romani dialect from the Vojvodina region in Serbia, which is closely related both to Romani varieties of the Balkans and to those of Central Europe. It was chosen because Roma from many different countries can easily understand it.

The project was funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme.
